We have been lucky that my wife has had no issues with milk supply, mastitis aside. Or, to rephrase that, baby formula brands have been unlucky that her body worked perfectly and as expected so we haven’t given them our money. I tend to agree that conversations around ability to breastfeed happen in the wrong order. Yes people struggle, but we shouldn’t be taught that “oh it might not happen, that’s quite common” as a first port of call. It should be about educating and understanding how to improve the mum’s biology.

And then if it still doesn’t work for the unfortunate minority, then formula is and should always be available.
