This is a fairly controversial point to raise in conservative circles but I'd like to make the case that there is a difference between sex and gender. Obviously the left's understanding of the topic is massively flawed and I don't need to go into all the reasons why here.

My case is that gender is a relational reality and sex is a physical reality. Briefly, masculinity is that which gives out from itself (I. E.the sun) and femininity is that which takes in and in so doing creates a space where things can grow. The Earth would be the classical example here.

This distinction is important to maintain lest we forget that physical realities are not the only realities.

I think conservatives agree! Please do take a look at the link in the post to my article about it (Excellent executive order)

(I agree that some misguidedly attribute sex ONLY to biology. In my piece I point out that it's the other way around, as our sex is an ontological reality)

I am also grieved to hear that they send out those dang weather alerts for snow in New England! We get them in Texas, which like you say, makes some sense- no one here has snow tires and what have you. I had actually wondered, does EVERYONE get these things when expecting 1-3 inches of snow? (Then again, we get them for extreme heat, which is sometimes half the summer.)

Don’t get us wrong; we’d be happy to have alerts for extreme weather— IF they came only when it was really extreme. For a New Englander, in the middle of winter, 4” of snow is not extreme. The famous blizzard of ‘78 was actually two storms, back to back, each bringing 20”. Now that’s extreme, and yes, I’d like some warning.

Thank you as always. I loved your talking about the weather. Agreed! And, yes, I also was thinking of the blizzard of ‘78. Wasn’t that exciting though?!

To be honest we weren't living here at the time. We were both in New Jersey, where the snow was deep enough in '78, but not at that epic level. Still, I heard the stories and saw the pictures from my parents; it took 3 days for the plow to reach them.

Your take about the mail order pill and RFK Jr reminds me of the scene in "Amazing Grace" where they first turn the corner in abolishing slavery. "We cheat" -- that is, pass a patriotic act referring to flags on ships which would have the practical fall out that most slave ship owners would go out of business. Excellent movie if you haven't already seen it!

President Trump seems to be a Zionist who is possibly trying to facilitate the building of the third temple you mentioned. Certainly Paula White is, I've listened to audio where she is breathlessly detailing some progress towards fulfillment of Jewish prophecy that she was involved in during Trump's first presidency. Trump's children and grandchildren are also Jewish.

You are so right to encourage us to pray for Jewish and Muslim conversion. I'll be real, and maybe it is nasty, but I don't think the state of Israel should exist and its formation and ongoing existence has an evil history. Does everyone know this and not want to say it? Am I somehow failing in Christian charity? Please admonish me if you should, I'd love to be more civilized on this topic. Furthermore, it's hard to fathom those people turning towards Christ! The whole state of affairs over there is so terrible and gives me despair. This is such an embarrassing, childish question, but I am going to ask it just in case you have a thought- do you think God means for the whole world to be converted to Christianity? It seems impossible.

Also I wonder if you could explain how fulfillment of the third temple is heresy? I am familiar with some aspects of 'Christians United for Israel' and I know about the Left Behind series. The idea that God will reward people who bring about Armagedón by removing them from earth and leaving everyone else to fight seems like such an immoral hunch to participate in. But how do we know it's not true?

I trust that Trump has a plan for this nigh-intractable situation. We'll see.

I think the answer is both pragmatic -- yes, the state of Israel is here to stay -- and spiritual -- Yes, God has a plan to convert the whole world through the faithfulness of His people. In any case, Our Lord instructed us to "go forth and baptize all nations"!!

Building the Temple implies restoring temple sacrifice. That's it, that's the heresy.

The one true sacrifice is Our Lord on the Cross, the Lamb of God, who is the final propitiation, replacing all others. That once-and-for-all sacrifice is re-presented in an unbloody manner at every Mass and we are called to participate in it and unite ourselves to it.

Thank you. I guess the point about the temple sacrifice should have been obvious, but I truly didn't know. And I'm really grateful. There are just certain things that strike at my sense of hope! And sometimes it's really hard to find an antidote. Maybe my catechetical formation is lacking?

There are so many complications! And this issue is a truly fraught one. That's why I think we just have to remember to pray pray pray (and not lose hope!) because only Our Lord has the answers -- we don't have the answers.
