I doubt if many Americans had a clue as to its financing, its support of radical ideologies and pointless "research" until the hearings from 2024 where DEI President Gay was exposed as inarticulate, weak, feckless and having plagiarized another Black female scholar Carol Swain. I am delighted that Donald Trump in his bombastic way has opened eyes and the books. I truly hope he prevails. My parents were scientists and college professors. They were ethical, honest and candid in their papers submitted to scientific journals. That a Harvard prof was dismissed over false research on dishonesty....well you can't make this stuff up.
Regarding Bishop Martin, I had never heard of him until this dust-up. Does he have a reputation for being so petty and vindictive? A true son of Francis but now Francis is dead so why not slink off into the horizon? In my few interactions with Pope Francis fanboys and fan girls who think Bp Martin is carrying the Francis mantle into battle, I've never found a single person who can cite a single example of those preferring the TLM "weaponizing the Mass." They make vast claims and also claim that the NO with its endless variations, it's abuses, and its often lack of reverence is unifying. Is there any explanation for Bp Martin or his sycophants?
Bishop Martin was just recently appointed. And he does seem to have some history with then-Cardinal Prevost (now Pope Leo) who urged him not to act quickly. He seems a bit unbalanced, actually!
I think it will turn out that +Martin will have furthered the cause of more reverence and more tradition! Unintended consequences, to be sure!
