I am so glad you brought the overwhelming, purposeful noisiness of the rodeo! My husband and son went to a college football game this fall--my son's first, my husbands first in a long time--and they both complained of the noisy, over-stimulating, intensity of it! Constant noise and movement made it almost impossible to pay attention to the game! I don't know how long this has been going on, but there are multiple easy sporting events that have been made much less family friendly because of this. Bowling, for instance, is all noise and lights. You mentioned minor league baseball--even back in the 90's they were beginning the crazy races and contests every couple of innings, as if we couldn't just watch baseball. The game isn't enough. I think many people are just desensitized to the noise. We have a parish formal feast coming up this weekend, and as enjoyable as it is, we know the noise level will make conversation near impossible and it will be overwhelming after a while. But the younger folks (20-40's) don't seem to mind as much. I hate feeling like the cranky old lady!! Thanks again...sorry for the rant.

Leila, your description of the noise and flashing lights at the rodeo reminded me of the many action/super hero and children’s movies being made today and why I don’t like them. 🫤
